So how does Herbalife fit in a weight-loss program?
We know that losing weight is about creating a calorie deficit (subtract 500 calories from your Resting Metabolic Rate for a 1 pound weight-loss for every 7 days). The trick to that is eating enough nutrients to sustain health, control cravings, and stay on track, especially if this is going to last any amount of time. Herbalife is perfect for that. If you need to get your calories per meal down, while keeping your balance of protein, carbs, fats and micronutrients correct, then the meal replacement shake does that perfectly. Two shakes a day with the Formula 2 and Cell Activator are the right balance. Replacing two meals with two shakes (with PDM or milk) can have your calories at 200 per meal, give or take, depending on what you add to it. You are also getting enough protein to sustain muscle weight and feeling fuller. A big problem when creating a calorie deficit is that you can get hungry and blow it. Herbalife offers appetite control enhancers to help with that: Total Control, Snack Defense and Prolessa Duo. Cell-U-Loss helps with water retention and bloat. Aminogen (nicknamed a-mini-gym) helps to break down protein for better assimilation, better digestion, and protein absorption. Thermo-Bond (nicknamed “cheaters delight”– I don’t like that name because we shouldn’t cheat, right!) is helpful with absorbing some of the fat from our foods and creates feelings of fullness. I add Active Fiber to my shakes, and to a drink before bedtime, for feelings of fullness and to absorb excess cholesterol and fat from my system. We have six flavors of Herbal Concentrate, which is a blend of Green and Black teas, and two flavors of Green teas to sip on during the day to help with curbing hunger. These beverages have no calories, taste great, boost metabolism, and benefit weight-loss. So, you see, each product in the line has a specific purpose for helping to create and maintain the calorie deficit we need to lose fat and pounds. It’s truly as simple as two shakes a day, a healthy meal, and healthy snacks. To truly know if you are on track or not, you need to log into iChange or another program during your day to make sure you are hitting your calorie deficit number. If you are not losing weight or “plateauing” for more than a week, chances are you are not eating to maintain a calorie deficit, and need to log what you are doing every day (including weekends, treats, and days you fall off). You may also need to add in exercise to help create more of a deficit. Don’t assume you can take a couple of shakes a day, eat “better” but not create a calorie deficit, and expect that you will lose weight–that is not how the program is intended to be used, nor will it work for you. Understand what each product in the line does, and why, and how it helps to create and sustain calorie deficit. I hope this helps!
